Diocese of St Albans
A partly rural deanery, with a tradition of joint worship and an active synod.
The last couple of months before Christmas were very hectic, from the moment we signed the lease on the premises on 2nd November, right up to Christmas itself. Our volunteer builders worked flat out to get the building ready to move into and two members of a local church have been in to do some painting for us.
We started taking advance referrals at the beginning of November in preparation for moving in on 26th November and started our first Group Therapy session on 3rd December, the number of clients and referrals have grown steadily since. We have now done 25 assessments and have a regular group of around 19 addiction clients, with a range of different addictions (most clients have more than one addiction).
The Mayor of St Albans is hosted a lunch, at the Council Chambers on 31st January to launch The Living Room. The launch was very well attended amongst the guests were: The Bishop of Hertford -
Our next big event is the official ‘Open Day’ on Saturday, 23rd February (unfortunately due to the size of the premises we have had to limit the number of people invited and so is by invitation only), the day is divided into two sessions, the first at 11am when The Bishop of St Albans is opening in prayer, the Mayor of St Albans will give a short address and Lady Verulam will ‘cut the ribbon’ and the second at 2pm. We have invited various members of the press so there will be photos.
